Neck and lower back problems are the most common complaint my patients come into the clinic for help with. We are generally cautious about what we do with our neck more than anywhere else in the body, well, because it's our neck. It's the conduit from our head to the rest of our body and if we break something in there then things can go horribly wrong. So...when you are doing your neck stretches you are doing them slowly and carefully without getting too over enthusiastic with the exercises.
